Avianca desistiu da fusão com a Viva Air

A Avianca confirmou hoje (13) que abriu mão da fusão com a low cost colombiana Viva Air, depois de 13 meses do anúncio oficial.

A união havia sido aprovada, depois de muita discussão, em 22 de março deste ano pela Aerocivil, regulador da aviação local, mas a Viva Air havia interrompido suas operações, dias antes, por problemas financeiros. Apesar do aval, já havia sinais de que nada sairia efetivamente do papel.

“A Avianca reiterou consistentemente durante meses sua convicção de que a integração era a melhor solução para responder à crise financeira da Viva e proteger consumidores, funcionários e conectividade aérea. No entanto, após estudar detalhadamente a resolução 873 de 2023 da Aerocivil e verificar que as condições da Aerocivil impossibilitam a recuperação do Viva, podendo até afetar a estabilidade da Avianca, infelizmente a Companhia foi obrigada a desistir da integração”, segundo comunicado divulgado pela companhia aérea.

Foram também elencadas outras falhas técnicas no documento do regulador, calcadas principalmente na incerteza jurídica, e apontou que o atraso na decisão final acabou favorecendo seus concorrentes. 

Quando a fusão foi anunciada, havia sido definido que o sócio-fundador da Viva, Declan Ryan, passaria a integrar o conselho de administração do novo grupo.
